The new version of the guidelines for the treatment of coronavirus infection may include alternative treatment regimens, recently registered drugs, and off-label drugs, i. e., drugs that do not have COVID-19 in the indications for their use listed in the product instruction but, according to some sources, they are effective against COVID-19. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Viktor Fisenko, the First Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, it became known that specialists of the Ministry of Health of the country were about to complete their work on a new version of methodological recommendations for the treatment of coronavirus. In May 2021, the 11th version of the methodological recommendations was published, which is currently in force.

“The drugs are mostly those that are already used in Russia. Some newly registered ones will be added as well. Alternative treatment regimens and off-label drugs can be added if we find confirming data in foreign sources,” Viktor Fisenko said.

The Russian government will provide an additional amount of 25 billion rubles for the treatment of the novel coronavirus. The Ministry of Health previously updated its anti-COVID-19 vaccination recommendations.
