The Circle of Kindness Foundation for the Support of Children with Orphan Diseases will be able to purchase newly registered medicines in Russia before they are put into civil circulation. The corresponding resolution was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation. This was reported in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“According to the decree, it is now allowed to purchase such drugs within six months from the date of their state registration. Such drugs, however, must comply with the requirements established during their registration, with the exception of packaging and labeling requirements,” the message says.

The new procedure will also apply to the expensive Zolgensma, a spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) therapy for children, which was registered in the Russian Federation in December 2021.

“The new decree helps to avoid delays in the supply of medicines,” the press service of the Russian government stated.

For this year, the federal budget provides almost 80 billion rubles to help  seriously ill children. This is 30% more than in 2021.

As it became known earlier, the Circle of Kindness has expanded the age limits for the use of Zolgensma.

Alexander Tkachenko, Chairman of the Board of the Circle of Kindness Foundation, described the system of providing medicines to children with orphan diseases.
