A new version of the Guidelines the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 has been released by the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has approved the 17th version of its Temporary Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of the Novel Coronavirus Infection, which was prepared by leading Russian infectious diseases experts. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health.

“A number of points have been made to the new version of the guidelines. The section “Etiology, pathogenesis and pathomorphology” now features updated information which takes into account the known circulating COVID-19 strains and their specific characteristics? including the BQ.1 (Cerberus) strain. The updated document also includes recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of influenza during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the seasonal rise in the incidence of influenza and SARS,” the report says.

In addition, the new version updated the criteria for prescribing anti-inflammatory drugs, updated the sections on the management of special groups of patients and the basic principles of treatment of medical emergencies in patients with coronavirus.

A new version of the Guidelines was posted on the official website of the Ministry of Health and sent to the regions for its use in practice.
