The use of Chestny Znak, the National System of Digital Labeling, made it possible to identify substandard medicines worth more than 1 billion rubles in 10 months of 2022. This was announced by Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Minister of Industry and Trade, during a meeting of the State Commission on Combating Illicit Trafficking of Industrial Products.

“I would like to acknowledge the effective operation of the digital labeling system. It allowed the Ministry of Health to establish online records of drugs movement and their availability, with details on each pharmacy. This especially helped during the pandemic. Roszdravnadzor also uses the analytics of the system for control and supervisory activities. Over the 10 months of the year, batches of defective medicines worth more than 1 billion rubles were identified. 47,000 packages have been withdrawn from circulation, which is seven times more year on year,” TASS quotes Manturov as saying.

Drugs labeling started in Russia on July 1, 2020. According to Roszdravnadzor, 100% of the drugs that are introduced into civil circulation have been labeled.
