The Russian Ministry of Health has developed a draft order to enhance the range of medical services provided to the public during compulsory medical examinations. As a result, the Ministry suggests incorporating hepatitis C antibody testing into the adult population’s medical examination program. This test will be conducted every 10 years, beginning from the age of 25.

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has recently approved modifications to the Procedure for conducting preventive medical examinations and clinical examinations of specific adult population groups. These changes aim to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the process. According to the explanatory note of the project, the need for early detection of hepatitis C dictates the measure.

The project was developed based on the guidelines from the working group of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Strategic Development and National Projects. These guidelines underscore the crucial significance of early diagnosis of hepatitis C, including through screening, with the aim of gathering accurate data on the prevalence of this disease.
