The Centre for Advanced Technologies, which operates the Honest Sign marking system, together with the Union of Dietary Supplement Producers, is developing new functionality for a mobile app, the Centre’s deputy general director Revaz Yusupov told the Anti‑Counterfeit 2026 forum in Astana. The feature will allow users to receive expanded information about the composition of dietary supplements and warnings about potential risks.

The new tool will make it possible to verify the legality of a dietary supplement and better understand its composition, Yusupov said. In particular, the buyer will be able to see whether the dosage of the active substance has been exceeded, and whether taking the supplement conflicts with their individual health profile. Once the methodology has been developed, the tool will be approved by relevant government bodies and made available to the public.

A regulatory scheme requiring approval for dietary supplements is already in effect in Russia. The system cross-checks product data with information from the marking database in real time. If signs of counterfeiting, adulteration or an expired shelf life are detected, the sale is automatically blocked at the checkout. Since the end of 2024, 50 million potentially unsafe supplements have been blocked in this way.

In May, the Russian government amended the rules for marking dietary supplements, adding criteria for evaluating manufacturers. The operator of the monitoring information system will now check that production complies with five criteria: the presence of qualified personnel and necessary equipment, notification of the start of operations, consistency of data in permits, and storage of supplement batches directly at the manufacturing site.
