The investigation believes that the explosion, which resulted in the partial destruction of the second floor of the building of Syntez pharmaceutical plant in Kurgan in April, occurred due to a violation of safety requirements by a workshop supervisor of one of the company’s production facilities. This was reported on Wednesday following the results of the investigation in the investigative department of the Investigation Committee of Russia for the region.

The explosion that caused the destruction of the upper floor occurred in the building of Syntez pharmaceutical plant in Kurgan on April 29. One person was injured.

“The investigation of the criminal case has been completed against the workshop supervisor accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous production facilities resulting in serious harm to human health and major damage caused by negligence.” According to the investigation, on April 29, 2022, the workshop supervisor of one of the production facilities violated industrial safety requirements, which resulted in an explosion of dust air mixture,” the report says.

Earlier, the Ural Department of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision also reported that they came to the conclusion that the explosion occurred due to overheating during drug production.
