Oncaspar for the treatment of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia has been included in the program of state guarantees of free medical care. Previously, the drug procurement was centralized and based on special resolutions of the government. Oncaspar was included in the list of VED in the late 2022.

“Oncaspar (INN pegaspargaze) is included in the program of state guaranteed free medical care to citizens. This will increase the availability of medicines for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This measure will provide the necessary treatment for children and adults with oncological diseases within the CHI program,” TASS quotes the statement.

On January 17, the Ministry of Health announced that 1,090 vials of Oncaspar had been received by Russian medical organizations.

Oncaspar is an expensive medicine for the treatment of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The drug is not registered in the Russian Federation. It is produced in France, and there are no domestic analogues to it yet. Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation allowed the circulation of the drug in Russia in foreign packaging. The ministry also noted that the possible procurement of the drug through the Circle of Kindness Foundation is being considered.
